things are moving along kind of slowly at the moment....I'm finding I need to look at things longer - anyway, here's the latest stage of this piece - it's oil on canvas 48" x 60"

I've decided to start a whole other blog just for Still Life Club! So if you love seeing what Clubbers are up to - check it out!

I'm starting to paint again - finally! I mean not still life or plein - air. I'm kind of in the middle of a series and have found it really hard to get going after coming back from Mexico. The past couple of days I've been trying to write an artists' statement and document some drawings - it hasn't been going well. Any tips for getting out of a slump?

SMA - randoms & nightime

Tuesday Market

Belles Artes mural

LCBO of San Miguel 'L'Eropa' - tequila walls

Marion Perlet's art show opening - with Mariachis!

This kitty hung out with us every day on the roof - I fed her cheese and named her Victoria ( after my favorite Mexican beer)

one of Delphine's 10 cats

Candelaria garden show in Paque Juarez

our view every night as we walked into town for margaritas & guacamole

yes, we watched the super bowl in Mexico at the Rotary Club event - in a banquet room of Real Des Minas hotel - the same hotel that hosted the Chili Cook -off that I went to two years ago. I guess it's a Gringo favorite. - I lost my mind when Destiny's Child rose from the stage to do 'Single Ladies' -most people had left by then! The guy sitting at the next table had no idea who Beyonce was - he actually came up to me and said 'who is that?' San Miguel is mostly retired American & Canadians - at least at an event like that -  so I wasn't really surprised, but I probably gave him a major eye roll.

serenaded by Mariachis

chorros y chocolate - one of my all time favorites!

this place is owned by Margarita Gralia - I think she's like the Pamela Anderson of Mexico - please feel free to correct me on that. Anyway, the night we went she was at the bar checking up on things. Most of the people there knew her and went up and said hi.

I'm in love with all the hand painted signs - I figure that this is a one-way street and it's done like this so people can read it in their mirror.

absolutely the nicest roof patio in San Miguel - Luna Bar at the Rosewood Hotel. Definitely worth checking out!
